Re: 'Die Soldaten' Living History Group

Re: Canvas medic bag

Some Sanis used artillery rucks.. simple two strap bag. With a flap and no pockets..sometimes a red cross stitched to the back..I've seen orinals and repros of this type of rucksack all over the net. The originals are about $150, the repros slightly less. Yes, artillery rucksacks were used. Not the...

Re: Krankentrager pouches

The following is from my records I have found around the internet Krankenträger had.... 1 anatomical tweezers, 1 clinical thermoneter, 1 wood-spatula, 1 nail-cleaner, 1 scissor 14cm - 16cm long, 3 band aids 5m x7cm , 6 band aid packs, 1 ligature-bind, 1 leather case with 20 safety-pins, 1 piece wat...

Re: New Midland based SS group possibilities

I agree with Neil. Comradeship is an inherent attitude and transends distance. There could be 10 of you within a 5 mile radius, but if the attitude is found wanting, the advantage from being in close proximity is lost. The smaller the group, the greater chance of cultivating a tight knit fraternity....

Re: New Midland based SS group possibilities

On the SS v WH thing, it's weird how it's gone. When I started around 10 years ago, WH groups were dwarfed by the amount of SS out there. All I can remember are the old AFRA 116 Windhund, WW2 LHA 916 Grenadiers with any decent numbers and ourselves as IR/.GD. There seemed to be alot of Falshie grou...

Try Jim at http://www.extraklasse.co.uk/home.php

If he does not have one, he will point you in the direction of where you will. He is part of http://www.generalstab.co.uk/ so you will not see better impressions than these guys to take advice from.

Best of luck.

Re: General Hasso Von Manteuffel uniform questions

Hi Peiper, Oh, sorry, my bad. That said, Your eyesight is better than mine because I cannot distinguish what cufftitle that is in the first pic. The cufftitle you refer to though was supposedly not issued until late 1944, but there is photographic evidence that it was being used in the summer of 194...

Re: General Hasso Von Manteuffel uniform questions

Hi Peiper, Walther did mention earlier that Manteuffel wore the 3rd pattern sutterlin script cufftitle. The one you have purchased is the 4th pattern. Send that back and get the 3rd pattern. Here are two pics, one of Manteuffel with 3rd pattern sutterlin script cufftitle and the other being examples...

Re: Show us you!

I totally agree with what's been said, your impression is spot on as is. *Uniforms and equipment were also replaced when the old one became worn, threadbare and tatty. Also as a soldier in the Wehrmacht, you had to keep your issued uniform/equipment in good condition. When ever possible, washing an...

Re: most realistic looking reenactment photo

Viktor - nice pick of you, Rory and others. Makes me wish I was still part of it. Small crtitique if I may, don't go heavy on the neckchiefs and the webbing Y-straps. Looks better without and was more to the "norm".

All the best with the new group.
