I would have thought the simple logical thing to do would have been to chose a unit that fought in Africa as part of the DAK, that fits the climate and terrain to a reasonable degree. I can see why the first photos can be perceived as 'bad taste'. However I personally agree with Peiper, maybe this is more a re-enactment vs fancy dress argument?
