Re: Serious Question - What is the purpose of Reenactment?
Re-enactment is a product of existentialism - and is linked with the modern interest for a sense of place, heritage and geniality. Re-enactor's temporarily dis-associate from the modern world and try to connect with the past through enacting it, providing them a sense of place and belonging and ful...

Another publisher is Stackpole Books.
Located about an hour west of me. I really should drive over and have a look at their shop sometime.

Re: War sex tourism in Poland and France
Everything I have read about the vast German Military Police organization (FG, FJ, GFP etc) and documentation would indicate what was listed by the OP would be the exception rather than the rule. Of course there have been examples of rape and abuse in every theater of war from the very beginnings of...

I keep hoping to open the doors of some musty barn and find an intact kettenkrad that the farmer would rather be rid of. I would lavish love on it like it was my own child... I would settle for a period Lantz bulldog in a pinch.

Thanks all.
I am still looking at all the old posts. It's a bit of a goldmine for me.

Re: Barretta 38A
Well, I purchased everything from Prexus. The receiver came as a tube with a paper template glued to it. I had to do the machine work with a vertical mill. I also got the extended barrel and guard. I had to machine every one of those blinking holes with a four flute mill on the vertical mill with an...

Thanks SC. Nothing like first hand information.
I was waiting to see if Feldjager was going to chime in with some additional comments.

Barretta 38A
Have any of you rebuilt a 38a with the Prexus receiver, extended barrel and semi bolt?
I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how to fit the SKS trigger group into the available space. They had good pictures, but it's still a task...and I have machine shop skills and equipment.

Re: Ostfront Odessa
I am new to the forum, so I am responding a tad late. The event was held on April 7, 8 and 9. It was a bit nippy with some snow in spots. One unit had a tent stove, however forgot the spark arrestor with rather dire consequences. Fortunatly they have a crack tent repair team. The march to the battle...

Re: NCO Whistle and Lanyard
I purchased one about two years ago from either 1944 militaria or At The Front. It is a dead match in color to my tunic and is very well done. And as I remember, it was not expensive. But then at my age, I have the short term memory of a toothpick.

Rather than plod through old posts and I gather it's bad form to resurect old threads... I have read both Chain Dogs books and all three Osprey WWII German Police books time and agiain, but there is little in depth information noted on the FJ. They are always depicted as Heer NCO's, so my question i...

Re: Ooops... they did it again... Panzer IV unearthed in Poland
Mixed feelings. Interesting find, but without preservation and care, it will rot away and be gone forever. What good the find when left to that sort of fate?
