Re: POW images
An American interpreter instructs prisoners of procedure upon their arrival at the port of Boston, Mass. http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k384/west-front/5108938713_2c87b27b87_b.jpg Look at those shined boots! Looks like they brought their batmen (not sure of the German term) with them to the U.S...

Hi Jager Roll,
I thought as much but didn't want to assume identities between the various boards. Thanks for starting that board.

Re: Looking for a helmet at mo, but blinded by choice!
Hi Jager,
are you a member of the FJ reenactors proboard (I think you are)? I put up a request for this kind of info a week or so ago, would you mind also sharing this (and more?) on that forum?
Thanks, Jeff

Re: LW Long Service Award Document
Here are a couple of scans for 1936 and 1937. From my research the documents themselves were a Wehrmacht wide award that didn't differentiate between branches, the differences being the awarding authorities. They also stopped awarding them I believe in 1940.

98k bayonet tool help
Hi all,
I have a stubborn screw/nut on my bayonet handle. Any suggestions for a tool(s) to use for the slots on the nut so I can turn the screw out?
Thanks, Jeff

Re: Translate Belt Sizes?
Thanks Peiper, but that doesn't actually answer my question. I know what size I am, what I want to know is what size belt to use, e.g. a 100cm or a 105cm? I know they range in length, i.e. a 105cm belt goes from Xcm to Xcm. What I don't know is the ranges.

Translate Belt Sizes?
Hi all,
I know the standard equipment belt came in various sizes, i.e. 100cm, 105cm, 110cm, etc., but what does that mean for actual belt lengths, for example what does a 105cm belt measure out at? Is its actual length 105cm and it fits from Xcm to Xcm?
Thanks, Jeff

When issued the soldbuch?
Hi all, when would the LW soldbuch be issued? I'm coming up with the smaller details of my German persona and getting ready to fill out my soldbuch. If I had volunteered for the Luftwaffe in October 1939, would I go to a ersatz battalion and then to school and then to a unit? E.g., I enlist in early...

Re: German Field rations
Hi all, thanks for the replies. Lots of good detailed info. I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel with my post, I'm fairly well informed about the ration system and its great variety in shape and form. But some of the labels we have produced do seem to be a bit on the imaginative side. I'm not sayin...

Halb-eiserne ration pics?
Hi all, this thread didn't get a response in the anything sections, so I thought I'd try here. While I don't doubt hard research and document making went in to the halb-eiserne (and other rations) pictured in this forum, has any one seen an actual one or have photos of an original? In searching thro...

Re: Soldat's Pay before 1942?
Thanks all for the replies. So in my wallet there should be currency from the country that "I'm in." A follow on question, was it just standard currency, i.e. did France keep printing their money unchanged from presummer 1940 till 1945 or was it stamped with an occupation indication or ......

LW Tresse on fliegerbluse Question
Hi all, tried this in the uniforms section with no luck. I'm putting together an Oberjäger fliegerbluse for static public events and will be sewing on the tresse myself. Question: was there a regulation distance from the edge of the collar for the LW? I've looked at a number of period photos and pho...
