How did German radio operators operate?
I have yet to come across an explanation on how German funkers operated in the field. I am building a Torn Fu G set, so I am very curious how a mobile radio operator did his job. Were they integrated into a squad? Did they operate in individual radio squads that worked in the field aside the infantr...

Re: Our Torn FuG replica.
I am going to be starting the conversion of a R-105 to a Torn Fu.g next month. What went into making the correct shoulder straps? Obviously it would me much easier to put d-ring hooks on it.

Re: Feeling very pleased with myself.
I have a switch board with dialer as well and am interested in doing what you did. Did you just take the guts out of an old telephone and use that to wire the set to a LAN line? Is a sort of converter necessary for the signal?

Re: Backpack Wire Reel
I got the package! Thank you, this is going to help me a lot. I got another project out of nowhere, I bought a Swiss military bicycle. Now I have a week to put new tires on it and repaint it, so I can take it to one of the largest events here in the US, in Conneaut Ohio. https://lh6.googleuserconten...

I will post pics when I get the rust stripped off. No your package has not arrived yet, but it shouldn't take much longer.

To me $10 sounds like a good deal. I think I was going to pay $30 or so.

Re: Backpack Wire Reel
I know... when I was looking through their color selector, RAL 6003 just caught my eye. It looked similar to the original paint on one of my spools, but when it dried it looked too light. I took it back and they were able to bring it close to RAL 6006 feldgrau! Lesson learned.

Re: Backpack Wire Reel
Unfortunately I bought a gallon of RAL 6003 Olivgrün. Did not know what I was thinking, I'll go back to the store and see if they can tweak it a little so that it can be closer to RAL 6006.
