Re: Breadbag strap

A bread bag with strap was often used by grenadiers being transported in vehicles as its easier to remove so you can embark/disembark, or dump if you need to be light on your feet for assaults or patrols.

Re: Book series on Personal items

Hi Jim, Just received my copy of volume one, and after a first skip through I am very impressed. The combination of information, period photo's and items illustrating the differing aspects you cover in the book are very well presented. A must for those interested in the details of their German impre...

Re: early green smock material

It does appear to have the yellow fleck material, but hard to see due to dirt and wear. But this has now been successfully copied, its hard to judge from these pics but zipper and studs look good.

Re: Erkennungsmarken

The Fj had a 6 digit numbering system. This may have changed very late in the war when the Fj had no parachute role and were used as elite infantry, especially when replacements where coming in from the Kreigsmarine and Luftwaffe ground crew. But to my knowledge it stayed the same.

Re: Drop container axle fixing.

The part of the axle that went into the container was hexagonal and was secured by a sprung stud that was recessed in the axle.
