Re: Back Ammo Carrier on Ebay.

Were these common? I've never come across one before, it looks a great little piece of kit. I've seen a picture of a group eight or so Panzer-Lehr Panzergrenadiers in Normandy each lugging two boxes of mg-ammunition for the 42 plus normal kit, one of these frames would of come in handy no doubt.

Re: Which assault badge?

Inadvertantly opened can of worms it seems  I dug out a few reference books this morning and found on p.21 of Osprey German Army 1939-45 (5) (Western Front 43-45) there is a period photgraph of two luftwaffe men in assault gun-wraps 'Sturmartillerie-brigade 12' both wearing luftwaffe awards. So...

Re: Which assault badge?

That's exactly what confused me in the context of the two panzergrenadier-lehr regiments, being either 'motorised infantry' (bronze infantry assault badge) or part of the wider panzer-lehr division (panzer badge). I did a little research before posting the intitial question only to find conflicting ...

Which assault badge?

In a muddle...

Panzergrenadier-Lehr Regiment 901. Would they receive the bronze infantry assault badge as motorised infantry, or the bronze panzer assault badge being part of the armoured division/ fighting from armoured halftracks?

Re: Unit Stamp Help

Brilliant! Much appreciated, that's all the unit stamps placed now. All adressed to the same Farulein in Darmstadt. Interesting to note that the letters start off at Gefreiter, through to Unteroffizier and then finishing as Leutnant throughout the training schools/ ersatz battalions. Starting off 18...

Gerat 3 Date is '10.9.43 - 8' and postmarked BREISACH (Maybe an 'f' instead of 'k' in Bruck) (3 may be J) Been through most of 'Lexikon Der Wehrmacht' and other sites with no luck, any h...
