Re: Repro Liebermuster
The Barrylydon Leibermuster pattern does not have the "comb" fine line detail so is incorrect. Colors are way off, much too light. I emailed him about the colors and he said he copied the colors off of a very faded set, so the colors look like a 60 year old faded set (even the "unvint...

What are the grenades on the far right of the first photo? Note the Russian RDG33 grenades in the foreground in the second photo. http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k384/west-front/Bfw44gBGkKGrHqEH-EMEred0stmJBLChzI8.jpg http://i325.photobucket.com/albums/k384/west-front/BfqoDiQWkKGrHqIH-EErfPg8M1BL...

Re: Helmet Camouflage database
Can't forget the Russian amoeba camo helmet covers in Stalingrad. Looks like the top and bottom photos are of the same guy. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/pic019.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/pic020.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/volgabattle.jpg

Re: Show off your reenactment helmets!
First helmet purchased 10 years ago, but usually covered with a helmet cover unless at a Normandy event. ET66 Pattern and colors supposedly copied from an original helmet. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/Camo1.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/timdps/camo2.jpg http://i16.photobu...

Re: Paint used on Helmets in N-Afrika/Tunisia
I seriously doubt that any vehicles painted in RAL 7028 made it to Africa. The order for 7028 Dunklgelb was in Feb of '43. Newly built vehicles (painted with the new color once stocks of the new paint arrived) had to be transported from Germany to Italy and then shipped to Africa (assuming they surv...

Not pickups, but I have a bunch of photos of GAZ AA and AAA (Ford AA 1.5 ton trucks) trucks in Wehrmacht service.

Re: Gebirgsjager uniforms during the battle of Crete
Am reading Beevor's "Crete, The Battle and the Resistance". On May 31 (nine days after the first GJ landings and within a day of the surrender) the 100th Mt Rgt was moving south towards Sphakia, approaching the highest pass at Askifou, defended by Australian and NZ troops: " With the ...

Re: Gebirgsjager uniforms during the battle of Crete
That would be my thought as well Geoff. When the GJ got off the planes they pretty much went immediately on the attack. There is an interesting photo on page 124 of Kaltenegger's "Gebirgsjager 1939-1945 Die grosse Bildchronik" Show troops getting ready to load into a Ju 52. Caption reads: ...

Re: Gebirgsjager uniforms during the battle of Crete
I know that there was plenty of Brit gear including shorts worn after the battle was over. Are there any photos (or other documentation) of GJ wearing shorts that can be verified as taking place DURING fighting? I am assuming that the GJ wore wools until the fighting was over and then picked up capt...

Gebirgsjager uniforms during the battle of Crete
We have a 70th anniversary of Crete battle coming up May in CA. There do not seem to be a lot of Crete GJ combat photos (as opposed to post battle photos), but I did find a few in the 1941 book "Gebirgsjagers auf Kreta". Appears to me that almost all of the photos show Jagers in wools and ...

Found some of these metal edelweiss buttons from a US supplier. They are the Krista buttons, third from the bottom of this page: http://www.ernstlicht.com/German-Costume/Buttons-Hooks-c1.htm Tim I decided to add some Edelweiß buttons to my Bergmütze. I don't think this was an overly common practice b...
