Calling it a day
To anyone on here who knows me. After having been on the WWII scene for a few years I have decided to retire. There are various reason but I'd rather not go into them. I may well dip into different forums just to see what's going on but I can't see my attending any more shows - at least not for the ...

Re: SS Dirlewanger Survivers to be charged
For a more in-depth history of the unit try: The Cruel Hunters - by French L. Maclean An interesting read. How it was made up is quite surprising. When it started 94% of its personnel where the poachers that everyone has heard about, but by the end this had dropped to 5% with 30% of members coming f...

Re: War and Peace show 2009
I suspect that this bigoted idiot knew before posting his comments the reaction that would follow. He seems to be one of those sad losers who likes to stir the pot for his own inadequate amusement. My opinion, bin him!

Ribbon Bars
Does anyone know a source for getting repro ribbon bars made up? I've found a place in Germany called Germania International. Anymore out there?

What sort of comments are we talking about here? Banter that is well meant but goes to far or deliberate insults? If the later a word needs to be had with the organisers so he does not come back. This show is too good to be spoilt by one idiot.

Will they be locking the gates? Won't be setting out until after 6:00pm when 'she who must be obeyed' finishes work.

Re: Nazis and the occult
The use of the Totenkopf by elite German military units dates from the 1740’s after it appeared in the funeral decorations of Fredrick William I. It had less to do with any esoteric meaning than with it being a funeral and the guy was dead. Since then it was adopted by a string of similar units so i...

Re: Helferinen Uniforms
No SS. The reasons I'm asking is, leaving the Osprey book aside, I've only seen one other colour picture of an SS-Helferin uniform and that was NOT a photo but a colour plate in a book printed in the 70's or 80's (so definately not gospel) and that was grey. Plus the SBG ladies are in grey. Or, was ...

Re: Helferinen Uniforms
Saw them at Watham and got to say, don't look bad. Bit worried about the colour though. From what I've seen of SS-Helferin uniforms they are more grey-grey as opposed to field grey. What do people think?

Re: Bushey Hall, 1940'S FAMILY WEEKEND, April 12-13 2008
As an event it is certainly developing. This is the third year, and each one it get a little bit bigger but still manages to stay friendly. There were a lot more groups represented there this time. Mind you, there where supposed to be quite a few last year, including a load of allies, but they decid...
