Re: Suomi - range and accuracy

I myself have shot the M/31 accurately at well over 100 meters. The actual effective range for this firearm is somewhere a little beyond 200 meters. The factors that come into play here are the exceptionally long barrel for this type of firearm (314mm) and as Pies mentioned, the white hot load of th...

Theres at lot of bangbang going on near the front, with Etulinja and Michael Gaissmair teaming up for a live fire competition. Along with finnish and german military rifles, SVT38, Lahti L-35, P38 and MBK42 were weapons that saw action today. The Etulinja Cup champion for 2011 is Private Aki Piesala...

Re: Michael Gaißmair winter training

To add to the artillery barrage of gratitude: The event received critical acclaim from my end, with full five stars and an academy award! The weather was damn near perfect (almost too perfect! "aaaaa the blistering cold, gemme back to africa!") and the training program was a good mix of survival and...

Re: Michael Gaißmair winter training

My current plan is to start trekking from Valkeakoski at 1200. Arrival would be set around or after 1500.

I am at your disposal to help with final preparations if necessary.

I hope you all get to enjoy the warmth of finnish (meh. chinese) wool. Id like to extend my sincere gratitude towards bauer who prac...

Re: Breadbags

The tornister was implemented into the M27 clothing/webbing system. After the five or so years the system got replaced at first by the experimentive M34 and finally by the M36 system that incorporated the "onion backpack". Note that the tornister was not the only backpack model to be manufactured fo...

Re: Breadbags

The standard issue breadbag model for the finns before 1936 was the exact same as was in use with the germans in WW1 due to the fact that the Jaegers who served in Germany in that war brought them back to serve as a model. During the "Great Renovation" of 1936 most of the finnish field equipment was...

Re: Finnish uniforms

Back from the brink my good fellows. Im currently somewhat busy organizing the mess that is my private life after my deployment, so the handling and organization of our tunics will remain in Bauer's steady hands for the immediately perceivable future. I will however continue to assist him in every p...

Re: Three days in January

Too bad I will miss this Awesomeness as well, just as I managed to perfect my finnish kit to the final detail. Being part of the finnish afrika korps has its downsides... Well theres always next year. And by god there better be a next year or Franz will be in a world of hurt! And you better post som...

Re: Issued small arms?

As for the finns using the M37: The finns never acquired the swedish copy directly (they had more than enough industrial capacity to produce the original M/31) The only possible way these weapons could have arrived into Finland (and i consider this extremely dubious FYI) is with the swedish voluntee...

Im currently busying myself with the M36 breeches and M36 tankers leather jacket (for your parola weekend Franz ;)), and then ill go on with the great coat if I have time.

As Franz already remarked, my time is short these days.
