No worries mate - you'll get the bug now and before you know it you'll have 30+ German helmets sat on the side like me...! Re your Sani helmet, just bear in mind if you're doing Russian Front (not sure if you are?) Sani's avoided displaying the red crosses etc when facing the Soviets, so in which ca...

Re: (Heer) Helmet colour scheme and timeline
RAL is a pre-WW2 German colour standard that is now a Europe-wide standard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAL_color_standard I imagine if you got a store in the US to make up a colour and asked for it by RAL name they would be able to help (certainly here in the UK you can get paint made up by RAL co...

Re: Coastal Artillery summer/tropical outfit
For authenticity, you would want those fake French cuffs - but my reality is that, with our climate here in South Africa, I have my sleeves rolled up to the elbows even in winter. French cuffs, cuff titles, trade badges - they just don't get any sun here, because they are always rolled up and cover...

Re: Coastal Artillery summer/tropical outfit
Jagd, if I look at that HBT one you posted, I'm seeing the following: - Heer M40 tunic, HBT (pleated pockets, scalloped pocket flaps), with the following changes A) different buttons (easy to change, as they are fixed in with hooks) ...Are those the KM anchor-and-rope buttons, but in grey? Thought ...

Re: Coastal Artillery summer/tropical outfit
I've never seen any pictures of Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery troops wearing Heer pattern HBT or tropical tunics. The Kriegsmarine tropical tunics were of quite a different pattern to the Heer ones, a bit more like a Luftwaffe one in some ways, with most having a fake French cuff, like a Luftwaffe ...

No worries - paint stripper should sort you our fairly easily with the pink primer, it is worth putting the effort in as, like you say, you don't want pink scratches..!
Looking forward to seeing it completed - have fun...!

Re: M40/55 Finnish contract stahlhelms from IMA-USA..
Like you say, I wouldn't bother with the stamps (I haven't with mine). Mine came the same greyish colour as yours seems to be, but fortunately didn't have the pink primer..! Yours sounds like it will be good when done, like it has seen some life. One thing I would suggest (if you want my unsolicited...

Re: M40/55 Finnish contract stahlhelms from IMA-USA..
Those post-war Finnish M55 shells are very good actually - I picked up three of those over here in the UK a few years back and did them up, put in M31 liners etc. They are much better than repros, but there are a couple of very minor differences between the M55 shells and the original M40 shells - b...

Re: Green drillich tunics
If you are referring to the reed green, four pocket, HBT jackets, then my understanding is that (in the Heer at least) they were not a personal issue item , like the wool tunics were. The HBTs were just temporarily issued to members of a unit (those units lucky enough to have HBTs, most seemed to sw...

Re: WTB Early War Litzen
Many dealers are now selling these but the litzen are embroidered. Epic being one, http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.php/1492/em-infantry-mounted-collar-tabs SoF being another, http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/army-infantry-collar-tab-product,254 I dont think these are correct, even mounted litzen s...

Re: WTB Early War Litzen
Franz20 - it's readily available , but , being early war , what arm of service colour ( Waffenfarbe ) do you require ? No, litzen with waffenfarbe colour is a pre-war thing, the first pattern generic litzen with dark green stripes were actually introduced in 1938, so before the war started. ...
