Re: Innovative Event This Past Weekend
This is innovative? This is how it's done in Ontario, Canada Each element has their own objectives, Objectives define Missions , Mission success or failure defines the next objective. 2 forces jerking triggers at each other for no good reason other that to make noise does not make a "Tactical&q...

Re: SS facial hair
There is an entry in the Soldbuch to indicate if the person wore a beard or not. From my research ( as I have a beard and I reenact SS ) medical dispensation was permitted to disguise disfigurement from wounds or other medical conditions of the skin. Obviously operational considerations for things l...

Re: Camouflage of the German Stabszelt
Excellent pic,
I got a repro from Tentsmiths.. and had then put a sodcloth on the bottom of the walls, I am happy to see that the originals had them.
I Have been thinking of painting the tent as well, Mine is a field grey colour now.

Re: Is anyone checking their members?
Well that is bad form, and frankly not seen much in Canada, of course the community is far smaller here. and ever has it been so, I don't really perceive this as an issue provided that there is a concerted effort to improve. Its when you see the same crap stuff on the same guys event after event tha...

I don't really perceive this as an issue provided that there is a concerted effort to improve. Its when you see the same crap stuff on the same guys event after event that you start to realize that maybe those guys are there for a different reason.

Re: Smelly Leather From Asia
Hi The sniper scope pouch that I bought is very well made, and have not seen it sold anywhere else. It was not cheap, but until they invent smelly vision, you can't really tell if it's going to smell. Now that I know about it will be more aware if buying stuff next time. Regards Eberhard one man's ...

Re: Smelly Leather From Asia
One of my friends runs a leather and findings company, so I asked him what's the deal with leather from China .. and that smell. The answer is, fish oil. The quality of the leather is often quite good, the method of tanning is also quite good. But the treatment of the tanned leather post production ...

Re: Smelly Leather From Asia
I would avoid hydrocarbon based oils, this is detrimental to the collagen fibres that make up leather. Obviously in period any oil would serve as the items were expendable. Proper harness oil, composed of rendered and stabilized animal oils often called Neatsfoot oil is the only oil that should be u...
