Re: My Original Ledermantel Restored

wow. that looks great, well worth the effort.

I can't believe no-one has commented on this. This forum is dead. It's a shadow of what it was 2 or 3 years ago

Re: China-made Bergmütze

I probably have the same buttons you do -- orange-tan color with an inset brass fitting? I've not had an issue with mine .... yet. I'm working with a different vendor to get some original-style buttons made. The most common wartime button is made from a single piece and the attachment is simply dri...

Re: China-made Bergmütze

FtrPlt - You've certainly done all GJ re-enactors a big favour by getting the vendor to update his patterns... I've just noticed that he's now listing two different types of wool EM Bergmutze - your modified version seems to be the cheaper of the two ! While we're at it a word of warning about stein...

Re: Jäger uniform

Hi I'm no expert, but I recently looked into putting together a GJ impression and I think I may be able to answer some of your questions. GJ wore Edelweiss tunic and cap insignia not the oak leaves of the regular Jager units. The oak leaves insignia was unique to the jager units and as you state was...

Re: China-made Bergmütze

I was looking around eBay and saw there were some Bergmützen listed for sale by a vendor in Shanghai. I've ordered an example and will post my opinion, once I receive it. I was very surprised to see that the crown attachment being the correct double-seam type. The full leather sweatband is another ...

If they sent the wrong size out and they insist you pay return postage i think you'd still be wise to open a case against them... you've got nothing to lose...

Re: Be Careful of Memory1945

Memory1945 is Gavin Militaria's ebay shop...

If it's not your fault you could raise ebay case against them. I'm sure they'd try to resolve amicably

Re: Steinnuß Buttons

I've found an ebay seller in the States that has a stock of them. Not sure how many he's got left, but he occasionally auctions a pair at a time. I mailed him recently and he put a pair up which I won. You could try contacting the seller from the details in this link he may have some left - http://...

Re: German WW2 insignia pulled of eBay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's their policy - MC036 Offensive Material. You can't sell items that have 'forbidden' symbols on them, whether they can be seen in the auction photo or not. I've seen SS collar tab pairs for sale, where the left hand tab has been photographed turned over. I guess most people don't realise what's ...

Re: Splinter B Helmet Covers

I know that's the general rule, but could it be possible that there may be some truth to the above statement ?
It would make logical sense if a smaller pattern (B) was used on smaller items such as helmet covers...
Would german-helmets.com make that statement without some research into this matter ?

Splinter B Helmet Covers

Hi Just came across a claim that factory made Splinter covers were made of Splinter B - http://www.german-helmets.com/Camouflage%20Wehrmacht%20Helmet%20Covers.htm note at botton of page - Almost all helmet covers encountered today are reproductions both new and old. Reproductions are almost always p...
