Website: www.afra.org.uk
AFRAAFRA is a Living History/Re-enactment group that, since 1999 has been portraying the ordinary German Armoured Infantryman of WWII, and more specifically 2nd Company of the 1st battalion of the 60th Panzer Grenadier Regiment of the 116 Panzer Division.AFRA brings the period to life by creating and participating in displays, often representing a battle. When this happens, the sights and sounds are stunning. They can place the viewer nearer to the actual experiences of the veterans.

AFRA has a fine array of vehicles and equipment and a re a firm favourite on the circuit.

jap reenactorsJRA represents an observation post overlooking Maungdaw in april 1943 just before the 55th Inf Div counter-attacked and forced the British back into India.
Our main aim is to represent the standard Japanese soldier and teach the public about what the allies were up against in the Pacific and to disspell some myths about the Japanese in the process.

The JRA is recruiting! Do you fancy putting together a Jap impression? Have a word with 'Tanaka' ... http://groups.msn.com/WW2J-R-A/

Grossdeutschland - 2/Pz.Aufkl.Abt.GD

Website: www.gdrecon.co.uk
GD reconOur group depicts rifle men of the armoured reconnaissance battalion in the elite Wehrmacht Division - Grossdeutschland, that saw service in most of the main theatres of war on the Eastern front.

The bulk of our members previously portrayed Panzer-Grenadiers from 3./ Kompanie Infantry Regiment GD, but decided that a change of direction was needed, so a new group was formed at the end of the 2005 season.

Amongst our active membership - we have some very experienced and highly motivated reenactors who boast a wide range of knowledge and equipment.

We strive to set the highest possible standards in all areas of our portrayal - from our uniforms and equipment to our living history displays, battle reenactments and beer tenting!

hg flak Hermann Göring Division LHS is a WWII re-enactment group which consists of like minded people from every walk of life who have a common interest in the air arm of The Wehrmact, which was in active service from 1939-1945.

Our membership includes, amateur historians, living history re-enactors and vehicle collectors. We all however have a main interest in the Hermann Goring Division, which for one reason or another is less known about in comparison to other Units, Regiments, or Divisions that fought during the Second World War.

One of our main objectives is to educate the wider audience as to how this Division grew into one of the best fighting units of WWII. We do this by re-creating the uniforms of this elite Division, displaying them, together with period vehicles and equipment at major military shows around the UK. We also participate in public and private battles, which re-create the historic battles that were fought in the period 1939-1945.

SS FallschrimjägerStarted in 2005, SS FJ has been formed by some of the most experienced UK Fallschirmjäger re-enactors, to display Living History at it's finest. Although a small group, SS FJ. concentrates on Front Line impressions, which are most appealing to the public, researchers and hobbyists, interested in World War II History.  As part of our mission goal, we strive to create diverse and interesting scenarios, which are lived and "acted" in the spirit of the fighting Fallschirmjäger.  We not only display through the day, when the public are in attendance, but also remain under canvas on-site, throughout our entire display.

In essence, we, as a group continue to turn the clocks back, to the wartime years of 1939-1945, so that everyone seeing our display, can see Living History at its finest.

Green Devils of CarentanWe specifically portray a late war impression of the ground role that the Fallschirmjager undertook. From Normandy through to Holland, the Ardennes and early 1945.

Second Battle Group (SBG)

Website: www.sbg1.mistral.co.uk
second battle groupFormed in 1978 the Second Battle Group is the UKs longest serving Second World War Living History and Historical Society. The SBG portrays Grenadiers of the 1.SS.Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. This division was chosen because not only was it Germany's elite fighting formation but it also fought on every major front in W.W.II (excluding North Africa) making participation of this unit at any W.W. II event historically acceptable.

We do not aim to glorify war or the Nazi Regime but we do aim to portray the fighting German Waffen SS soldier of W.W. II as accurately as possible. We do this by wearing the most authentic uniforms available and by using many original vehicles and weapons. The SBG own an impressive variety of vehicles, including a 1947 Czech Tatra which is converted to resemble an Sd Kfz 251 and an original W.W. II Opel Blitz both of which are owned and funded collectively by SBG members.

Based in the UK, KOmpanie 1 is currently one of the largest societies in Europe taking part in public and private battles around the country as well as putting on static displays at officially organised military and wwii shows.

Until recently, Kompanie 1 specilalised on the 12thSS Hitlerjugend, but we now have a range of units that we re-enact.

916The 916. Grenadier Regiment is a 're-created' living history unit based on the actual unit that fought with distinction in North West Europe between 1944 and 1945, therefore, we owe it to those men of both sides to portray them correctly and with respect - lest we forget.

The unit was formed way back in 1978 by enthusiasts and collectors and was then called 'Stürmgruppe Adler'- a fictitious unit. Later, we adopted an actual German Unit identity and today the unit has a long and proud history as one of the premier WWII German Infantry Units in the world.

The unit is made up of a group of dedicated individuals with an interest in the WWII German Army, but without any sympathy for the Third Reich or its ideals. Our aim is to honour the ordinary infantry soldier of all nations.

Website: www.dasheer.org
das heerDas Heer is a Living History Society based in the south of England although we have members from various parts of the UK. We are at present a small society but our members are dedicated and we believe our standards of authenticity are very high.

The aim of our society is portray the ordinary German soldier going about his duties during World War 2. To that end we are not politically motivated nor do we wish to glorify war. We do not condone the acts of atrocity and barbarity carried out in the name of Germany from 1933 –1945. Das Heer does not accept anyone with extreme political views or ideals.

We believe we are unique in that we are the only group in the UK that portrays the early war German infantryman. Das Heer concentrates on the period immediately before the war through until the end of 1941 prior to the reverses in the east.

We are a UK based society that re-enact battles and recreate the 'Living History' of WW2.

We have within our ranks a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from. Some of our members have been re-enacting for over a decade. We strive to ensure that the uniforms and equipment we use is either original or of the highest quality. The battles we recreate, with the help of our highly experienced and skilled team of pyrotechnicians, can be undertaken completely 'in house' at our own events. We are also proud to be invited to the most prestigious Living History events in the country where our award winning displays can be seen.

Our units comprise:
85th Gebirgsjager, 5th Division. (Wehrmacht Forces, Mountain Troops)
65th Nachrichten Abteilung. (Wehrmacht Forces, Signals)
89/317 Field Security Section. (British Airborne Forces, Intelligence Corps)
9/249 Field Company Royal Engineers. (British Airborne Forces, Engineers)
3rd Company, 1st Battalion - 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade. (Polish Airborne Forces, Rifle Section)
Recce sub from "A" Battery, Raiding Support Regiment (British Forces, heavy support for SAS and LRDG operations).

Feldgendarmerie Trupp 82 is a nationally based living history group who seek to recreate a German army military police unit of 1944.

We were formed back in 1987 and since then we have gone from strength to strength. The aim of the group is to give a snapshot representation of a German military police duty station in the field during the Second World War. The group is unique in that we are the only dedicated military police unit concentrating on the later war period – typically we base our scenario around the Caen area of France, in the spring, summer or autumn of 1944.

The unit represents the men and equipment from the 82nd military police troop of the 2nd Armoured Division. This unit was formed in Vienna on the 16th of August, 1939 and was comprised mainly of former Austrian police officers. It saw active service in the Polish and French invasion campaigns, then extensively on the Eastern Front and Balkans. It was then involved directly in the D-Day landings, before retreating back towards German and finally surrendering on the Rhine defensive line at Plauen, Germany.

Throughout the year, the group puts on a substantial living history display at public events all across the country as part of the World War Two Living History Association, Limited.

We are very fortunate to have available a large amount of equipment including an original 2 tonne Citroen truck, the only one in the Europe configured as a wireless vehicle, original tents, a 3 tonne Mercedes lorry, an Enigma machine as well as a plethora of communication equipment, paperwork and pioneer items (which were used for basic demolitions operations).

Some of our members have also diversified and established a very substantial display centered on a field medical station. Other elements which are represented are the Secret Field Police, Civilian Ordnungspolizei and Feldjägerkorps.

We're always keen to hear from people who are interested in getting involvced with the unit, or who just has an interest in the police or military police of the 1933-45 period of Germany's history.

Based in the East Midlands, portarying the 914th Grenadiers of the 352nd at D-Day and beyond. We represent the standard German infantry soilder from Normandy to the final days of the war. We're a small but growing group formed in October 2004.

We have no vehicles (yet) and a website is under construction. We have a growing collection of WW2 German weaponry, which we regulatly display at public shows. We are members of the WW2 Forces Network. We're hoping to do lots of events this year, such as Great Central Railway. If you want anymore details about my group, feel free to PM me on the forum.

Thunder From HeavenThunder-From-Heaven, is a living history association that was formed by a group of airborne enthusiasts with the aim of perpetuating the memory of the veterans of the second world war. That goal has been reached by us, through displays and exhibitions, at Military shows, Museums and in schools.

The main theme of our endeavours has been the U.S. Airborne soldier; both the Paratrooper or the "Glider Riders". We also re-enact images of the American Infantryman, or G.I. as he was known. Furthermore we also do impressions of British or German units, that compliment the main displays.

We portray panzer (tank) crews and panzergrenadiers (armour mounted infantry) of the Waffen SS.

We are a group of ordinary people who have a mutual interest in WWII and in particular the German military aspect of that conflict. We have been bought together by that mutual interest and rather than just read or watch historical media we have decided to go one step further and “live” that history. Through the wearing of uniforms, the ownership and operation of vehicles and through partaking in battles and re-enactments either as part of organised shows or privately, we aim to educate and show the public what it was like to look and live like a German WWII soldier.

KAMPFGRUPPE KAEPPNER
Kampfgruppe Kaeppner has been formed as an umbrella Living History Society for Luftwaffe re-enactment units.  Our aim is to unite Luftwaffe units based both within the UK and abroad so that we may set the standards of both uniforms and behaviour of all Luftwaffe re-enactors in order to give a historically accurate portrayal of our chosen units.

By pooling our knowledge and manpower all units within Kampfgruppe Kaeppner can learn from each other’s expertise and experience and at the same time pass on valuable knowledge to new members of the Kampfgruppe.

It is indeed a great honour for the FJR2 and the Hermann Goring Division to bear the name of a highly decorated Fallschirmjager veteran of many campaigns.  We re-enact to keep alive in some small way a part of history that changed the world we live in.  In order that people today don’t forget the sacrifices made by those young men and women all over the world, we honour the veterans of all nations that fought during the terrible time of WWII.

The group re-enacts as armoured infantry using our groups halftrack and other vehicles. We are always on the look out for new recruits to represent this elite German fighting unit of World War Two.

Over the years we have learnt how to evolve in the hobby and how to get the most enjoyment out of re-enactment; and its because of this that we can guarantee a safe, professional and above all fun environment for our membership to operate within.

The group houses varying skills bases and backgrounds, some of our members are adept at 1940's photography, whilst others expertise vary from medical and logistical interests to weapons and vehicles. The group possess an OT810 halftrack, currently under conversion to a SDKFZ251 spec; and a motorcycle combi. We hope to increase our vehicles collection soon.
