Update on the weekend

we have arranged to have dinner sorted around 130pm , it will be rice and chicken curry on Sayuurday and rice and Stew on Sunday . the food will be cooked in a restrauant in town and brought out on site , heated in the kitchen and we will distribut it to all groups at their locations , bring your mess tins and spoons . The cost of this will be mionimal as we are subsidising it possibly between 3 and 4 euro each , plenty food to keep everyone going til the bar b q at 9 ish

look forward to meeting everyone at the weekend .

Good news ,
a certain ammount of weapons , K98 and Lee Enfield 303 s will be available to hire at the show . Laurence Thermies is the authorised dealer and will be able to provide ammo at around 12 euro a box

you must ring Laurence at these numbers to book a weapon on the day , 0719176624 or mobile 086 0760230 . the weapon is for hire at 30 euro for the saturday i am told ,

the plan is as follows :

Saturday : display to public all day , huge multi group axis display . reenactments every hour on the hour ,
WW1 gas attack , WW2, Irish War of independence , Roman marching group , Celtic battling , archery ,
Roman battling Celtic army group , 1798 show ,and few more smaller groups will get time in to do their own shows
Battle area to be prepared in the morning
Battle at 6pm for the public

Bar B Q at 9pm that night and drinks at the fort , social event in the pub late evening

sunday : display all day and reenactments each hour on the hour ,as above
Diner in the evening by the catering company hired , subsidsed price for the reenactors
Ride out / spin out to hook head and stop along the way for a drink or two
Return 9pm and final night in strand bar with music that evening

Monday Wrap up and pack up for all . head home

Thata a rough outline of the event . The shows and reenactments listed WILL be on and ARE actual . Unlike other shows advertising such fantastical displays and groups we will in FACT have them running .

It promises to be a great show and our support is well up . Weather forecast is looking very good too so fingers crossed

Paul merton and his film crew will be filming in Duncannon fort for the weekend doing a show on hobbies and interest of the irish , I have had several meetings withthe producer s now and all is set for the weekend . Filming will be from Saturday morning and through til Sunday , he will also be interested in the battle at 6 pm but wants to meet all the different groups involved and talk to all , bith in the show and after hours in a social setting .
As you may know Paul Merton ahs done some great programmes and shows and i recently saw him do one in China , very relaxed gy and funny , i think this will be a great show when fininshed and do us all proud both at home and abroad.
This was in the planning for a while now and we kept it undr wraps as a surprise for all involved in the show , We aim to introuce him to each group in a timeline fashion starting back at the begining and working through each period of history , we will introduce him to the vehicle owners seperately as we go . So weather your a Celt , Roman , Viking , peasant , knight or WW1 or WW2 soldier everyone will get a little spot . The medieval village in the moat will be of significant interest to him and he will samle some of the foods and drinks on offer from differnet groups present .

So put on your best cloak , belt , helmet , shield or jackboots and lets do our best for the weekend
