Rifle Ammo Pouch Query

The missus gave me an early birthday present today: a single 3-block (what I will, for the sake of description, assume is Mauser) pouch she bought off eBay. The buckles are all gone but the leather's in really good condition - but on the back (where the pebble effect is almost mint) there's a stamp in the centre:
Bruno Wiedermann
[Frim?] 39
1916
The '1916' is in a larger printface, and that middle line is a little blurry. Also, stamped into two of the three pouches' flaps (on the inside) is:
9./J.R.3 II.
9th Company, 2nd Batallion - 3rd Jaegerregiment? It's a VERY clear, bold printface.
Basically I'd like to know the meaning of these markings, just to get an idea of 'where' it came from - she said the auction said 'from the Ardennes' but whether it's an attic find or unearthed she didn't say; I'd be amazed if this was a dig find, as the leather's phenomenally well-preserved but the buckles etc. are gone. Only the three pegs on the bottom are present.
