skjold is shield in danish, and dane is part of danerne, which means 'the danes'.
So it's basicly 'shield of the danes', as in guardian of the danes.

Hey hey.... Our last reenacting devoted to beginning of Great Patriotic war 22 of June 1941 . It was conducted in Minsk on the Stalin Line.. Report in the Russian forum.. Iam on the left....
