Victory Show weapons lease

Hi Guys,

As you can imagine it's hard to bring weapons (even replicas) into the UK. I'll be at the Victory show and I was wondering if anyone has any of the following that I could borrow:

Wather P-38 blank firing

MP-40/38 blank firing

I would be of course willing to pay a rental fee.

Also, are blank obtainable at the show?

Many thanks!

Its just as difficult "owning" a firing weapon in England so
most of us hire one anyway.

There are weapon lease/lenders at the event, its just a case
of bringing identification (passport/drivers licence) and basically
what the rest of us do....try and find them once we are there lol

What types of weapons do they have there normally? What are the rates? I assume they have ammo then? I know it's hard to own such items in the UK, however it seems a lot of you have a whole arsenal at home anyway

The Battle for this year is by invite from the organisers. If you are unsure if you are permitted to take part in the battle ask Dave Pratt on the Victory show Facebook page :)
Please DO NOT book a weapon if you arent in any of the battles

If you are part of a group thats been given the nod you can hire a weapon via Gary Howard at GHQ weapon hire his email is weaponhire@ghq.uk.com

Note Weapon hire covers both the main battles and the two Italian theatre skirmishes (for those involved in that)

Thanks for the info! I'm signed up with another group so no problem there. The weapon rental then is just for the battles, meaning you have to give them up after each battle?

Yes m8
pick it up prior to the battle usually around 45 mins before dont wander off with it and it cant leave your possession until after the battle then hand it straight back.

Gary does have limited amount of ammo you indicate how much you will need on the booking form.

Ok, thanks for the info! I just send Gary an email.

Another question then, if you carry any denix inert replicas around are those not allowed?

you can have it on display and carry one around but bear in mind there are LARGE crowds if you're popping off for a shop its easier to leave the weapons behind

Aha....well I was just thinking of taking a denix P-38 as a holster filler anyway, if I loose it, it's only €45 but I like the weight in the holster and it looks a lot more realistic as you see the holster is heavy as it hangs on the belt, seen too many pictures where you can tell the stuff on one's belt is empty due to lack of weight...details

Its doubtful you'll be able to bring those through customs without there being a problem,
as for carrying them at the show, thats ok, ive never known a problem with non firing
weapons, deact or replicas, with deacts just bring the correct deact paperwork, that's if
you can get them here ??

Never been checked before at customs...it'll be in my checked baggage. But either way I'll bring plenty of Swiss chocolate as a bribe, kinda like Roger Federer and his Lindt add ;)

Bit of advice dont do it, unless you want some 'special' treatment if you are pulled!

Don't worry, I've had my experience ;) actually once got stopped before quickly and they asked me before I opened my bag if there was anything I wanted to declare. I said nothing illegal, but I have an airsoft Luger in my bag, they told me to pull it out. Then told me they'll have to take it. I shrugged, sighed and said "pity, as it's just for re-enactment" and handed it over. They then handed it back saying if it's not THAT important for you to put up a fuss about it, then you can keep it...so nope, no problems so far ;)

Over the German border "what's in the box"? I smile and answered "an assault rifle" the guy laughed and told me to go on...there was a STG-44 in the box....

How can I put this! It is the UK, there has been a terrorist war waged for the best part of 30 years, recently sorted but still simmering, added to this is the complication of islamic extremists trying to blow shit up. Our group regularly does shows in the UK and we bring nothing that can cause a problem,we belong to recognised living History group, we have our own PLI, various permissions and so on, you truly dont want to do it just for the sake of a holster filler. But then again, what do I know.
