In a back street in Middlesbrough town centre. I have lived here most of my life, but just discovered it!

Is the shelter still there, or just the sign?

The wall is at the rear of some town centre shops.
I asked in the shop (believe it or not its "Past times") and they let me look inside. Its actually the cellars underneath.

Nice find :)
I managed to "aquire" a metal ARP plaque from a building in Coventry some years back when i
used to work as a bricklayer, this sign was attatched to a small out building which was being
demolished, i also grabbed an ARP helmet as well which was hanging on the wall, i was
horiffied to see it was all being slung in a skip, there was a gasmask in a bag as well but was
rotten so was binned, i will post some pics when i get time

Interseting find.Ive been in the space under Clapham Common, which became a massive archive facility, ! By the way 'Underground London'is a fantastic book! Highly recommended!

As an aside, when we used to do tree work( I used to work with one of the inner London councils as an arborist) , we regularly would encounter shrapnel in the trees.
