Helmet, original colour ?

Hi, just got this helmet from and old fella's house...
he said that he didnt think it have been re-painted... but had newer seen a helmet coloured like this... what do you guys think ??

Colour looks to me like the Norwegian repaints but with a go faster stripe.
Where in the world did you find it?

i got it from a old man from Denmark i'd known for meany years, reacently he passed away and i got it... he told me it were from germany and that he got hold of it in the 1920'es in germany....

Sorry but, a M42 helmet shell from the 1920´ies?

I think that was the point of the "...".
Looks like a complete mystery, maybe folk have got an idea what the function of a stripe like that could be, might let us hazard a guess at what's going on with it.

The stribe is maybe a little off center. maybe 5mm if it is. it looks really off center on the picture tho.
