New Altitudes: Project Edelweiss

Image

Hej Jägers !

I have the pleasure to present you some photos of the Project Edelweiss 2009 (French Alps). We were only three, but three motivated and brave Gebirgsjägers An unforgettable trip that was a first test in order to propose you a new edition of this Project Edelweiss in 2010. I hope we are not alone to have this kind of spirit and i will be able to welcome more courageous Gebirgsjägers reenactors. This topic will be also a communication tool for the next year (ready for 3550 m/alt???).

So here is first some photos (1st part) and thus, technical descriptions and general comments about this test. Once again, do not hesitate to contact me for questions or information, you are welcome.

I really want to thank my friends Nicolas and Albert. To say "I come" is easier than to come. Thank you for your efforts.

Best Regards,
:D :D :D

Lieber Bruno
thank you very much for this unique event! Discovering the Alps, with Nico and you, in fully periode equipment, is something that I'll keep in my memory for ever!
I'll soon post a little resum of the timing, altitudes, dificulties, and so on.

Servus Heeresbergführer Bruno,

What camera were you using to make the photos that you posted?

I'm hoping to film, in HD video, next year's event to make a mini-documentary.

That would be more than welcome, willing to compare requirements with my own possibilites (which are of course limited).

Hej, hej !

Thank you for your comments. Rednas, you know we're welcome. You're right Obergefreiter Hansch "Let the planning for 2010 begin!" :idea:Image .

Albert took accurate notes during our trips, step by step. This future written report will help you to imagine the physical requirements. We will deal with this point later also because physical conditions and security are closely linked. Once again here is what i've written some weeks ago:

"Concerning the level of difficulties, I can say "it depends" ! It depends first of the number of participants: I'm able to lead maximum 4 people in high mountain, if we are more than 5 I take a risk. Thus, I need to cut the rope group and another participant, with sufficient experience and technique, will lead a second rope group while I lead the first. My purpose is not to take unnecessary risks. Secondly, it depends to the physical conditions of participants and their level in mountain (knowledge and technique). Finally it depends to the natural conditions (snow and rock conditions), plan deviations can be important in mountain, and often, the planned trip can be changed because of weather.

In some words, by going in high-mountain, the objective of this project is not to do "family hiking" trips BUT high-mountain trips such as gebirgsjägers could know in 1938-1939. According to the number of participants, theirs physical capabilities and the natural conditions, the trip can be adapted in order to limit a maximum risk. Risk is an important thing that participants need to be aware: the best deep planning can only reduce the risk level without deleting it.

However, taking in account these considerations it is evident that we will do more interesting trip (and reaching a summit over 4000m/alt, what is the objective for 2010) with a small team of which participants are well lead and in good physical conditions."

Thanks dagda :D

About the old effects, I use a software called "Muvee" (http://www.muvee.com/en/). I can manage photos and videos for a final video clip making. There are different generation of Muvee, for sure in order to get the last one you have to pay, but I think you can download the previous ones (ex: Muvee 4 which I use).

The final short movie of this trip is coming... I would like you the video is close to an original 16mm, will see :!:
