John, No, no stamps at all in the shell.
The straps are crossed at the back, I believe this is the way they were designed to provide lateral support for side impacts if struck. If the straps are bolted left to left, right to right, I believe that is incorrect and also the helmet may slide forward over your head if pushed from behind. You lose out on the cross over at the back to provide a firm rear base.
And it is indeed a snug fit when used in the crossover manner. It kind of grips the back of the head in this configuration.

Re: Looking for a helmet at mo, but blinded by choice!
I have re-drilled the holes to sit about 1.5cm lower down when the liner is out and sitting on a surface the right way up.
This effectivley seats the liner deeper into the shell and lowers the profile onto your head.
Call me wrong, and call me what you will but I think that drilling holes in that position is going to make the opposite effect.

Incorrect John. Drilling the holes the other way, ie away from the entry or open section of the liner will have the opposite effect. I have done as I posted and it is indeed improved. It may just be a case of misinterpretation of what I did. The proof is in the wearing, and no I'm not going to disassemble it to picture the mod! It took too bloody long to get the bolts tight to undo!
to make it simple, undo all the bolts. Put the liner into the helmet, take the straps off and squash it down until it sits at the height you want. Mark the holes by marking through the shell holes directly onto the liner and you will see that he required holes are towards the open end of the liner or downward if you sit the liner on a table the right way up.

Just got my two Indian made helmets, painted aswell.... Top photo with an old Spearhead liner, below with new Spearhead liner... Notice the ear, you can see that the 'Old' liner is sitting lower (and better).... So have to change from time to time the liner till I find a better one of the 2nd helmet...

Does anyone know if anyone is making/selling helmets that aren't massive? Not everyone has a size 61-62 head.
I know there has been some talk of doing smaller sizes, but I don't know if anything came of it.

I have the cheaper at the front helmet and it is not as good as the older more expensive one, which IMO is the best there is. I know Ive tried them all! However it isnt too bad, in the end you get what you pay for!

Are you going to Beltring? If you are go and have a look for the Czech liners, there should be some. You'll have to pay more but at the end of the day if you're wearing it you need it to be comfortable.Gliderinf wrote:What aspects arent as good Mr Dagda ?

Hanging up my Knochensack for now, it's been a good war!
Re: Looking for a helmet at mo, but blinded by choice!
The weight is not the same as an original and the finish is not as good! But its still pretty good(the cheaper one) as I use it for battles!

Re: Looking for a helmet at mo, but blinded by choice!
I just bought one of the liners from Custom Helmets on eBay. He seems to be a German dealer, the guy with all the repainted Deepeeka shells. Anyone got experience with this liner at all? It looks 100% better than the Deepeeka liner.
As for shells smaller than 71- apparently the Czechs made size 66 shells, but trying to get info out of anyone as to where the heck to buy one is like breaching the official secrets act. None of the guys on the US lists will reveal the source other than "a guy who is a mate of a mate sold me one"!. There may be a simple axplanation as to why no-one can name a source, but until now no-one has bothered to reveal! Being repro's, its not like you are revealing a secret stash of mint originals for gods sake! End of rant!
Just tell us where to buy repro Czech made size 66 FJ helmet shells! Simple.
