There's no guarantee it's a wedding ring, generally, lots of different cultures have symbolic reasoning behind the placing of wedding rings, but thinking along military lines it's usually not good practice to have any jewelry at all.

If all they are doing is guessing then that calls into question every date in that picture archive... surely they wouldn't bother putting 'Summer' if they weren't even sure what the year is?

Actually I have found quite a lot of photographs with questionable dates or captions. Heer labelled as SS, dates ranging from 1940-1944 while it's clearly late war, and so on. Keep your eyes open, and don't trust the captions blindly.

Ardennen, Fallschirmjäger Westfront, 18.1.45Fallschirmjäger an der Ardennenfront.
Bei den harten Kämpfen im Frontbogen im Westen sind auch Fallschirmjäger eingesetzt. In den Ardennen liegt Schnee, und alles wird weiss. Auch Stahlhelme, Ferngläser und Waffen. Zwei Fallschirmjäger beim Tarnen ihres Helms mit weißer Tarnfarbe

I believe our very own Stigroadie posted on another forum that the material used for the helmet cover is infact Hungarian camo.

This looks like Polish wz.29 carabine or Czech wz.24.
Sheikh, could you give me direct link to this picture in Bundesarchiv ? I can`t find it with their browser.
