1979 part 1
We begin 1979 with the covers of six bi-monthly newsletters, the BRA BULLETIN.
Sadly as they had been pasted into a scrapbook, and the first issues were not
illustrated, only the covers now exist.

1979 part 2
Thruxton was one of our major public events during the early years, a "must" for all reenactors.
Front left- Otto Lancaster, front right- Tony Dudman
Note "Garth" on the left with 3 inch mortar and bipod on one shoulder!
Here follows some early Fallschirmjäger photos from the London based group ( 6th Regt).....

Very interesting pictures - both photos and fliers. Thanks for all the work that went into the scanning, research and posting - it's important that there is now an electronic archive of these images of late 70's living-history which have a historical significance in their own right. Look forward to more of the same!!

If he is in the internet, can you point him in the direction of the photo with him in it?
@ All.... I did not really wish to spoil the surprise, but as some of you have been writing on the thread, I will tell
you what is coming up next in this series...... you will love this one!
The 1980 event which would never happen again today, so "political un-correct" it was even discussed in Parlement!
A blow by blow rendering of "Butlitz" (Butlins+Colditz) the P.O.W. Camp event with watch towers, POWs being machine
gunned on the barbed wire fence (as seen on ITV News at the time)..... you will love it

Dave is refering to a showing on Southern TV, the reporter did not hit it off with us so to speak.Feldjager wrote:Funnily enough, I was watching that on DVD last weekend. It's terrible...!
However, some of the other Press people were in order and quite friendly.

Butlitz 1980 part 1
Butlitz was a P.O.W. camp set-up for a weekend by Bob Acraman in an old army isolation hospital. The guards were all
BRA Germans from BRA SOUTH and we only numbered 22 guards, we were split up into two shifts and went through
the whole weekend with little or no sleep. The POWs, one or two were BRA Allied, otherwise most were media reporters!
Yes, for one time only, the reenactors actually locked up the press
The newspapers would not fit into the scanner, so I have reproduced them in sections.
SUNDAY PEOPLE 14th September 1980
This was published before the event, little did I know that a day or two later I would be asked to take part.
