I'm with you chaps, its not JUST a hobby its THE hobby and you have to have an interest in the subject, thats what having a hobby is. You must know as much as you can and keep learning. When you start you think you know a lot but you soon realise you know nothing in comparison with others (no names) but surely we all want to learn otherwise we might as well go fishing or something else that takes no real knowledge to do (Fishing picked at random!).

Soapbox's ain't they great?

Defender of the noble art of fishing:

Even to do fishing right you have to have knowledge and skill, its not just about putting bait on the hook and throwing it in the water. To do it correctly and to catch fish, you have to know about water conditions, surroundings, how fish feed, what they like to eat, etc.

Agree with whats being said thoough, to have an hobby you would think you should / would be interested in the subject matter, after all is that not why we got us into the hobby in the first place, weither it be for the knowledge of hstory, meeting / honouring vetrans or even socialising.

What I meant was why must I have an interest like yours?
Perhaps I do this for totally diferent reasons to you, or haven't got time to stare at a photo for hours?
If I don't know about something I come out with the shocking answer "I don't know"
If its not a hobby then what is it? Unpaid employment? dick

Tried fishing the canal this year and failed dismally. I thought fishing with explosives was supposed to work  I heard that KP1 nearly caught a lump of wood though

Have to say its usually me that waters the KP1 display.
We did indeed Bryn nearly hit our pet Jock person on the head (landed on his Zelt anyway) not only that it was accompanied by several gallons of water from the canal that i must say smelt better than when i water the area.
