Falschirmjaeger Feldgendarmes

Post by AndreasC »

Hello.

Question for the people with Military Police knowledge. Did the FJ have Military Police personnel. If so, what did they do, and what equipment/insignia would they have had different to your normal FJ soldier. Did they wear a Gorget and if so was it a Luftwaffe type or Heer type. Any advice would be appreciated.

Short answer as I am off to bed in a minute!

Yes there were Lw Fg. Their duties were much the same as their army counterparts (have a look here viewtopic.php?t=550).

Post 1943, waffenfarbe was the same orange colour as the army used. Prior to that, it was light blue (same as the admin troops used). The gorget that was supposed to have been warn was the Lw pattern one, but the majority of Lw Fg can be seen wearing the army pattern one in pictures (confirmed by veterans). There was no issue of either the police sleeve eagle or cuff title - however as usual there is an exception to the rule; ex-civilian policemen in the Herman Goering Division did wear the army pattern cuff title on their left sleeve.

There were also Lw GFP, (see here viewtopic.php?t=548)

Have a look on our unit website for more info on the Feldgendarmerie - http://www.feldgendarmerie.com

Hope this helps a bit

FJ FG

I myself portray a Fallschirmjager Chained Dog. I use a Heer ringkragen (gorget) since, although there were Luftwaffe ones, it was rare. I mainly do traffic duty, arrests (haven't done any really). I have a traffic wand, dispatch motorbike.

FGs for FJ wore the standard issue FJ stuff, with the exception of the gorget. As far as I know, they didn't wear cufftitles or police insignia/waffenfarbe.

It would seem the only exception to this rule were men from the OrPo who were latterly FJ Fg - they were permitted to wear the Heer Fg cuff title until it was ordered removed from all Fg in 1944.
