k98 winter trigger

Post by Jaws »

Hi all, i've just seen mentioned on another thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=20796

" 1 K98k winter trigger "

What is that? I've never heard of this before. A picture or a link to a picture would be great if you can help out.

Interesting read..I had never heard of this either. I imagine it took some getting used to.
Funny they came up with this device, but nothing to keep the gun oil from freezing. It was a major problem with bolt action rifles on the eastern front. The bolts would freeze in place and couldn't be broken in sub zero weather.
The Russians found quickly if you added a bit of gasoline to the gun oil it prevented freezing and jams
Winter combat is a whole different fight indeed.
