what the hell is that?
Re: Looking for an M38? Look no further!
Kind of looks like someone has hacked up a Stahlhelm of some description to make a lookalike. "Epic fail" doesn't even begin to describe this abomination

Graeme, just a word of caution. New members to reenactment, not knowing your sense of humour particularly internationally based and where English is a second language, may take your enthusiasm as being legitimate and a recommendation to buy this item. I know we might talk about people need to carry out their own research but that isn't the real world. Good that you have identified this helmet to us all as it does make a good addition showing the range that is available out there and that some of them are of a very poor quality so thanks for that.

Bit of a sweeping statement there. It wasn't so long ago that the hierarchy of repro M38 helmets was:Gusbucket13 wrote:More Indian Crap
1 Czech made (very difficult to get hold of and very expensive)
2 GMAX (again very difficult to get hold of and about £150)
3 ATF (changed the specification and I always thought it was based on the smaller shell when compared to other helmets.)
4 Deepka shell (Indian made) with Chinese liner and a Don Calder chinstrap (best alternative if you are on a budget)
5 Chinese copies (all of varying standards but relatively cheap)
Then FJ-Werke came into the market and are probably in the number one spot.
