This has been covered

It's always a good idea to do a quick search of forums on such topics.... No doubt you will find more than this thread if you do.

The first thing i did was removing all iron in the hat.
Then make the wool wet, place it on your skull, pull the wool behind
till it got the right shape. Then let it dry with a hair-blower while the hat is still
on your head.

The best repro is an original...

When the cap is still wet burn with a blowtorch or burner carefully and this from resulting in the dirt would rub. again and again pull the cover back. Take care, which is also fired from the top.

Then the cap ring with hot water-wet and dry wear ... there, the ring enters ring on drying and the cap does not fit properly. Especially good is touching the car and tighten screws with the dirty hands often.

Here is an example.

Burn at least as I think the best option, you get the hat also like a bit dry.

What I need is still a reasonable Schirmmütze FG Heer... the best Erel Repro.
The other cap in the first image has a stripe on the inner ring (hard cardboard) and the leather shield is too strong ... this could easily pass for a Schirmmütz, because if there really existed in this form.
