This are pupils and their teacher from the SS-Musikschule Braunschweig.

Very nice photo, and a unit I never knew of. What cuff title is the Oberscharfuhrer wearing?

Franz, the first time I have seen photos of this school is already a good 25 years ago, in one of the first publications over the different collar insignia, I forgot the name of the book but the cover was printed in brown oakleave camo. The photo with the piano player and this one here was in it.

The only information in that book were two pages with these photos and the discription of the cuff title "SS-Musikschule Braunschweig" and the double lyra collar insignia, it mentioned also that the school was formed on 1 july 1941 and when in july 1944 the school complex in Braunschweig was destroyed it moved to Bad Saarow. At the wars end the school was closed and the youngest pupils were send home. The school progam included all aspects of music; composition, instruments training, music theory etc...

How cute, a SS unit with sweet little harps on the collar tabs instead of the scary mean skulls

Great Photo's though guys, I knew of the existence of the school but wasn't aware they trained young boys.

I dont normally comment on this sort of thing, but I find some of the previous comments a bit distasteful! Leave the 'Ganymede' nonsense out please!

Very Interesting picture!.Also of interest is that although the n.c.o. carries a regulation nco sword,it has an officers bullion knot attached.
Had another look, cannot see a raised pommel, but it has a grip emblem (ss nco swords do not have grip emblem, runes are engraved on the pommel)so its either a police nco sword or he has been given permission to carry an officers sword.
