Grüß Di' Bergkameraden,

Here's me with my friend "Fancy." She's an Austrian Haflinger mountain horse. A standard Gebirgsjäger division would have 500-600 Haflingers, about 1500 horses, and about 5000 mules.

Here is a squad of my unit in the top right, I am in front of my large superior, lol. We were defending a trench position from a combined American, British, Russian attack...it was a public show.

I am on the far right. I was forced to wear a different tunic which was like tent on me, but it was either that or freeze (it was very cold). Again this is from us lined up at the same public show described above. It went well. We had two Stuart tanks, three half-tracks (one armed with a scary quad of 50 cals), three jeeps and a few motorcycles. What did we have to defend? Grenades and a single pack gun armed by a few SS that showed up. :P

Did ADIDAS not start in 1947?
I'm not having a go in the least my brother, I love these kinds of pictures, we've all been there at some point haven't we? the nearly ready shot or the just getting ready to go home one?
I know I have certainly, shouting for a headdress just because there's a camera there

Wonderful Haflinger! Had one myself a few years ago. Mulfa was her name (I called her Leila). M because it was a M-Line Haflinger where all Stallions name start with a M. I could trace back her "ancestors" up 'til Marengo, a stallion born in Austria 1936!!!!
Maybe some mares or stallions of the M-line served in WWII .... I'm shure they did .... but who knows?

BTW Hafling where the name Haflinger comes from is in Italy today ....
