Definitely agree with Halle, Top photo is a nice "in the field" pic. Great shots though!

For starters, I would reduce the amount of grain which you added. Wartime films were slow and relatively insensitive to light compared to modern films. If I'm correct, it is the silver halide particles which are fewer and more dispersed in slower films which produces the appearance of a grainless image. Because film was slow and action had to be captured (faster shutter speeds), many wartime photos are underexposed and often exhibit little shadow detail or flat highlights depending on which technical route the darkroom printer chose to take in producing the final print.
