Very good mate, personally i would wear low boots or some tropical (canvas/leather) boots myself,
as for the pith helmet, LW personel wore them, just replace the topee sheilds for a Lufty eagle,
i put one together last year for something to do as an extra portrayal (see below) :D

Not bad fella, but, go for a low boot, or tropical low boot.

Also, there is a difference in shape between Heer and Luftwaffe pith helmets. Also, the eagle points a different direction when on the LW pith. So, DONT just change the shields out or you'll catch some flak.

Hi Splinter
As Matelot said the "official" LW pith helmets were different shape from the Heer type,
however saying that not everything is set in "black & white" terms and German uniforms
during WW2 are not always worn in a fixed/regulation manner which we have seen many
times with other "un-regulation" attire.

I have seen the Army type pith helmet being worn by LW personel in ref pics especially by
the H-G, also even captured Dutch and British ones were worn with the metal LW eagle pinned
on, not as a rule but a few pics have cropped up from time to time so it is wrong to class it
"as not done" imho because it was, the eagle worn would be the silver metal Lufty type with the
prongs, good luck

Yes, there was variation in what uniforms were worn. Look at the well documented photos/film footage of the captured HG troops in SS camo smocks and tropicals.

BUT, stick to the norm! Don't wear a Heer pith with your tropical kit. You may know otherwise, but there'll be a multitude who won't and will chastise you for it.

Yes, the eagle is metal, and attaches with prongs. But, it is reversed when it comes to the pith helmet. These are rare, and I found a few unscrupulous foreign traders at Beltring last year trying to sell their examples as original. Indeed, one cheeky chap had a box full of 'originals'!!!

Nice impression! I wolud use a Webkoppel, no leather string.
I you are looking for eagle for your tropical helmet, I can offer you one of mine.

It is a Luftwaffenadler für den Tropenhelm- reproduction. It is an minted eagle, like the original one.

Thanks for the 'signpost'.

Incidentally, I believe the cuff title should be 15cm (6") from the edge of the cuff.
