Original Kreta photo.

Recieved this today. Taken by a Chief in the Royal Navy based on Kreta at the time of the battle for the Island!

Shows troops possibly from FJR3, landing around Souda Bay. HMS York is in the bay somewhere...!

Camo chutes, large cargo chutes, 3 chutes together for artillery pieces etc....JU52 in flames...

ive got a copy of this photo or if not something similar in one of my FJ books, but i cant remeber which one, excellent photo though,

I'd be interested to see that Graham, as this was kept in a personal collection for at least the last 10 years. As far as I can ascertain, it's never been published before.

I think I know of which photo you talk about. It shows a JU52 coming down in flames. But that one crashed near Heraklion(I think) in an area which is not near Souda Bay. The area is now heavily populated.

Now this IS interesting..!

Actually, it's not the same photo. However, it seems the one i have is of the same scene only a few seconds earlier!!!

Mine is taken from the same angle, only it shows the burning aircraft at a higher altitude.
