The soldiers life was not just sleeping under the stars, sometimes you could enjoy the luxury of indoor activity. Sometimes garrisons (for excample, in Petroskoi and Home-Finland) bring not so pleasant thing with them, like close order drill, cleaning service, discipline and accurate timing.
Etulinja decided to get into these feelings and here is the result
Garrison quarters.
Correct literature.
Reading service.
Cleaning service. Quarters must be kept clean and in order. This will quarantee that the room stays clean and in order. And on the same time recruits will learn the words discipline and precisiness.
Inspection of the quarters and closets starts.
Inspection.
Poor results will be fixed and will be punished for.
Completely approved way of inspecting.
Toilets where not so personals.
Getting ready for weapon inspection. Weapons must be maintained on regular basics so that their service life will be added to the maximun.
Weapon inspection.
"Assemble!" ...and to the next weapon.
Eye glass models from the war years.
Close order drill:
Forming up to a close order drill.
Corporal in charge of the close order drill inspects the equipment.
Weapon handling.
Field training:
Lesson for trench clearing.
Destroying a bunker.
Artillery fire commanding.
Artillery fire commanding.
Clearing the trench.
Brake.
ATTENTION! Garrison quarters where not period correct, the garrison was built just after the war and was modernized at some point. The first barracks we hope we could have used made in 1939 was now a cafeteria.
Etulinja would like to thank for co-operation Archipelago Sea Coast Guard Guild and Staff of Kuuskajaskari garrison island.!

Re: Etulinja garrison weekend
The weekend brought back memories.... But I must say that this place was spacious, modern and awesome compare to wht I had during my military service My building was built in 1820's and I don't think it had ever been moernized, except for the toilets....
Hopefully next time we get an older barracks for rent and more people to come...
