Excellent photos. May I ask please (and if I should not ask on this photo thread, I apologise), what is the general reaction from the public, given that Denmark was occupied during the war? (In the UK it feels as though we have increasingly extreme reaction to Axis-only reenactment, although we were never invaded.)

For the most part the reactions are positive... But there's always some people that gets pissed off... It was a really good event and think all of us look forward to next year!

I did only see one negative reaction and that was a man who shook his head. He was one of a couple of thousands...

Roughly the same in Holland, looking at the 3 years that I reenact I can't remember that people gave bad reactions on a event. In contrary, it are mostly the elder people who had lived during the occupation that are the most positive about this. I can remember one reaction from a very old man who told me that he mixed feelings about it. Almost reliving the German occupation gave him a bad feeling, but he was thankfull that he could see this and that we educate about his history. The bad comments come mostly from people who are born after the war and who talk bad about reenactment as a whole safely from behind their computer.

It all depends on how you reenact this period. Especially the occupation is a very delicate subject where you need to be respectfull with your impression. Looking at our last event where we did the occupation at a train event, we heard a people saying that when they arrived they experienced a tense admosphere. That is what you need to get. You can't give it an 'enjoy and have fun' admosphere as it would give a wrong impression what occupation is about.

I can remember one guy in the newspaper directly after the famous Panther photoshoot in Breda!
But 1/2 of his bad coment was on your age and that you in your childish behaviour... bla, bla bla, but then in 1944/45 most of the NCO and young officers where 24-26 yo.

There are also going to be a big German (as in 'from Germany') group present, if all falls into place

I hope we can muster at least two full platoons next year, perhaps more. We're also going to have more vehicles available for the Germans.

And the best part is that since this year was so successful, we are allowed to incorporate many more ideas and scenarios than we could this year.
