Stoomtram 40-45

Photos from a steamtrain event we had. At each station a period of the war was being reenacted (the mobilisation of 1940, the German occupation of '43 and the liberation by the Canadians in '45):

The train comes in 1940, the Dutch are preparing themselves for the German invasion. A member of the NSB (Dutch nazi party) is arrested:

The train arrives in 1943, the German occupation.

What a great event and some excellent photos. Its very good to see a country like the Netherlands, which suffered so badly during the occupation, allowing such an event at a railway. Over here many railways wont even have us, let alone occupy a station.... good for the Dutch.

Just put it down and wait what the reactions will be...

20 km of track, no scenario so everything went spontaneous. Civilians were taken out of the tram and if something was wrong we kept them on the station.
Some Späh to the next station where the Brits and Canadian forces were. On the last day we had a raid of the Allies on our station, witch they took over etc etc.
This happend because we were outnumbered 3 to 1 ofcourse

We had some "drunk" German soldiers put on the tram to the Allies, because they had enough of the war. They had no clue what to do with them... :D

Our MG Flak Abteilung held the area at close watch and spotted more then once some reconnaissance from the Allied side. Also twice a Brittish 25 pounder who was brought by a Brencarrier and took some shots at our station.

All allong it was a more then special event and the day after the weekend, the mayor and the steamtrammuseum allready have promised that it will be again next year.
So keep our agenda in mind around May next year!!
