Heaven & Hell Training Event Pt 2.

Well we're all recovering after a gruelling yet satisfying Airborne Tactical Weekend, this time with Airsoft as we felt the added realism of being hit over the usual blank firing issues may have something to offer.
The scenario revolved loosely around Allied attempts to take on of the road bridges over the Aa river in Holland and secure the road for XXX Corps to relieve the beleaguered 2 Para at Arnhem. The Allies comprised elements of US 82ndAB, UK RUR and 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade.
Despite several strong attacks, pressed home with bravery and determination, FJR6 held out and the bridge did not fall!
I'd like to thank out friends from the WLHA for their participation and hope they got as much out of it as we did! After a showery start to Friday evening, the weather cleared rapidly with the onset of a spectacular moon and held out magnificently for the rest of the exercise. FJR6 were in position at 0930 on Saturday and Allied Forces conducted several probing attacks.
Prionsers were taken in a spectacular recce-in-force led by Uffz. Werner. The battle reached fever pitch at around 3pm with two well co-ordinated direct assaults within the space of an hour supported by a heavy airsoft .30cal. Both attacks were beaten back, albeit with heavy casualties and the .30cal, which was in the process of being manouevered into place to fire directly on the bridge, was disabled by a grenade attack by the O/Feld while under fire.
A final push was made on the east flank of the river by Allied Airborne Forces just before darkness and this too was beaten back with savage losses on both sides.
The exercise ended with a de-brief at 1730hrs and a fine dinner prepared by U/Feld Koenigstein.
Sunday was used to get some footage of the area as the nature of the engagement on Saturday left little time for this task.
I'd like to also welcome our two newest recruits, Marius and Darius, who acquitted themselves magnificently despite this being their first outing!
Here's to many more tactical events..plans are already under way!
