Re: German soldiers from Italy - "PROGETTO900" group
Good looking photos guys BUT I would like to draw attention to a few technical things.
First:
The soldier on the right side of the mortar was responsible for loading. On the left there was a bomb aimer whos only task was handling of the viewfinder.
Second :
During the firing of the gun from laffete, bipod should be removed or spread. Otherwise, they block the free movement of recoil compensating mechanism and lead to damaging laffete which makes it useless.
Keep up the good work .
Cheers !

About the MG34 on Lafette, I know the "regulatory settings", but, if you see some WW2 footage videos or photos in action, you can see often the opened bipod, the reason is simple, it's a "front-solution" as the M24 grenades in the boots, not regulate, but very usefull in combat where you can be engaged by enemies in surprise from sides. You can keep the MG from the Lafette saving the opening of bipod in a second time.
One of lot examples:

I mean that your bipod is closed and that can cause damage to laffete mechanism during shooting , opened bipod is a common view .
