More 1980

The original photo is in A4 size. It was taken at a BRA private battle event.

The late Phil Plane (BRA South) with Harry Barnes (BRA North).

No health and safety back then and yes the flame thrower did work!

I have posted this on another thread once before, but it does belong here too.

BRA BULLETIN September 1980

Read the original newsletter, the reports on the shows, private events and the critics.
If you were not there 30 years ago? Then these 22 pages will take you there!

(Page two is blank, I have let it remain, or else someone would say a page is missing).

Hi Willi,
The Collecting now programme,BBC2... was what started me off in the BRA,I joined Dougie Newmans 21st Inde Para...(Steve Flower,Brooko Brookes,Laurance Pooley,)
The Caerphilly site was superb,Best site for reenacting... (apart from the Car stealing locals!...)One Year Dave Bennet had his car broken into and Tony Dudmans and his kit was nicked!...
Always liked Mereworth however some I have heard don't like Mereworth at all, probably since the pub burnend down!...
Great memories.Thanks.. Cheers Pete.Image

Another 1980 BRA Bulletin.....

This one is from November (they were published every two months back then).

Worth reading and page 18 covering an article about press and publicity is still valid 30 years on.

The only time BRA members wore Waffen-SS uniforms, Gary Ashley, Mike Passmore, Dave Bennett and
Bob Whittaker are four of the reenactors in this picture.

This one shows the late Phil Plane, who after years of reenacting American, went over to do British.

More pictures of the 1981 "Cornish Coastal Invasion", just goes to show that you can have a "private
event" with just three reenactors!

The end of season winter battle in Wales 1981

It must be remembered that 90% of our events back then were private battles
