A friend of mine has asked if anyone can ID the uniform,rank etc of said Soldat ?

It was her Mum`s penfriends wedding photo...

I am no expert on Heer gear :? but is it not an early period Gross Deutsland dress tunic of NCO rank, with a marksman lanyard? just a guess :!: :?

Well from what I see he is an unterofizier wearing a waffenrock, can't tell exactly what branch the piping could be red, black, or green definately not infantry

Pre-War?, Unteroffizier, possibly an officer cadet.
3 Kp./Jäger Regiment 83

Maby abit late but this is an m35 waffenrock. A dress tunic made for parades and nicer events.
The soldier on the picture is an NCO. unteroffizer I believe. As said he also wears an marksman lanyard.
So pzrwest you are correct.
