A few photos of the XI/C boat U-534 once at Birkenhead , that which has now been "sectioned".
Recovery is fine and makes the headlines , long term this alone will not secure a future - if a submarine is to be lifted from off Donegal better give some thought to what has to be done care for her.

Usual story , had a lot more , gave them away and can't find the negs. :(

A shame she had to be sectioned but at least she has a future, a huge lump of a boat when you see her.

When you look at her its amazing that anything so "metal" could be made to surface again ! from memory one of her after torpedo doors was missing , I bet she is full of stuff which would be "outlawed" in the ship building process of today.

Found this whilst looking for some missing photos , the after cover was not missing , the whole streamlioned cover retracts upwards into the outer skin.
These sit above the props, when you are under her looking up - well that is impossible now - she was one huge mother .
The plunge they must have taken in the course of that call [iAlarmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!![/i] , must have been an utterly nerve racking experience.
There was damage to the starboard side just forward of the tubes , seemed to be the outer skin only.
From the photos above the proximity between rudders , screws and rear tubes can be seen , also the damage mentioned.
