Servus Bergkameraden.

Looks more like an M-43 cap than a Bergmütze...IMHO. Anyways...silver piping on a Bergmütze was only authorized in 1943.

Would love to see someone reproduce an officer's Bergmütze like this:

note HBF this cap in the pic is made by the original makers robert lubstien in Germany, bit tricky for them to get it wrong i would of thought. Also got private purchase gabardine bergmutze and also M43 officers caps by Erel in fine quality wool

wow, very nice indeed, could one get those without the offcer's pipping though? I would like the gabardine one, but I'm doing a prewar impression so that means no pipping. I think there would be a lot more buyers for that version as it wasn't until 1943 that one could wear the pipping, as stated above.

R.Lubstein has quality stuff no doubt about that.
The only thing is that they can't do nothing with insignias...
Insignias were always applied during construction not afterwarts...

It's well known yes, I guess my real question is if they're willing to order a batch made without the pipping.

Good luck in finding one.

Would guys think it possible to "cut it out" the pipping? Cut it away and then pull the remains out? Or would it just wreck the cap? It's hard finding one that looks as good as Maureen's...

The piping is sewn into the seam, so you would probably ruin the cap, I think if you managed to take out the piping it would mark the material also.
It is a mighty fine cap.

Removing the piping requires deconstructing the cap. It can be done. I had Roger Jay do it for me last year. Be a good opportunity to sew the insignia properly too.
