Reproduction Barracks Furniture; Schemel, Standhocher and Kleiner Klapptisch. I built in my workshop. They are constructed out of pine 1" boards, 3/4" boards, 1 1/2" dowels and wood screws, carriage bolts, wachers and self locking nuts.

Reeenactor Pattern Schemel. I have seen this particular design at many events and as well as from photos of events posted on the internet. The only original wartime photo I have been able to find that somewhat resembles this pattern is posted below. Has anyone found any other wartime photos showing this pattern? It is my opinion that this style has taken a life of its own in the reenactor community due to its ease of construction but might not be historically accurate (at least in a garrison setting). I have accumulated many images of wartime photos of period furniture and none have displayed this. I could be wrong but would welcome any thoughts.

would most of the furniture they used in barracks/bunkers etc have been plain wood, varnished or would it have been painted in a nice shade of grey?
