Just a quick question..Does anyone know when the mp40 was issued to NCO's? Would it of been used in norway 1940?

Mp-38 was still more common then and I would say it would be more suitable for a NCO to have a MP-38 unless he's coming directly to the front as a new soldier.
Rifles however were still more common at the time, what rank are we talking about and the role of the soldier, that's also a large factor. Infantry, yes it's more possible to be issued with a MP, but if you're in the artillery, you wouldn't be given the priority for one as they weren't as common yet and you'd have a rifle. Later on during the war when the MP-40 was found all over the place, you'd have a much higher chance on getting one.

I've read that the Early slab sided mp40 was issued from around june 1940.
