Re: watertight gas can?
Well, since gasmask canisters are stamped prior to painting it should either have paint in the stamp or be rusty.. Next to that stamping in the lid would need the can to come apart, first.
Gasmask canisters are stamped at the factory.
A lot of mg34's where made up to the end of the war since lots of parts where still around Pz's only used mg34's and so on for (most) motorcycle troops.
In late '45 a whole batch MG34's was made for Israel by DOT. They carry no WaA's.
Pyotr, please don't take any advice from peiper.

to end it in a nasty way, I know as much about
this subject as yourself so why think you are "Mr
Know all", it appears you are very arrogant with
that opinion, you have the same source of
information as myself so why do you think you
know more than me, I have bought and sold
Original Militaria for over 30 yrs, this forum is
for different views, just because mine differ from
yours how does that make them incorrect, if you
cannot debate different opinions you shouldn't
be on this forum !!!

Re: watertight gas can?
Sorry Pyotr for the overlong explanation, I didn't
expect to be cross examined lol especially by
another " amature historian" as we all are on
here, all we can do is pass on information we
ourselves have read that does not make people
the "expert" they think they are, I have blocked
erikbozwo2 on here so I will not see his "know
all" comments and have to respond to them,
I answered your topic in good faith trying to help
it was only later the others who think they know
better stuck their beak in, the end of the day it is
best getting some decent ref books and finding
things out yourself as I did as there are too
many so called self proclaimed "experts" on here to find out the real information
Good luck, Peiper

Re: watertight gas can?
Afternoon,
I don't want to get involved any further, however I will ask that Pyotr listens to what Erik and myself have said re the cans. We are correct. Also GraemeMac is quite correct with what he's contributed.
Peace out .

Peiper blocks most people that disagree with him. Sometimes he resorts to insults and threats.

I don't know it all Peips, I just don't make it up when I don't know it.....
And I don't state things as fact, when they are actually an opinion, or just made up.....

Right cut it out don't bring your personal arguments on here, so im locking this and any repetition will result in warning and then bans for both
