My breadbag items.

Post by POA1944 »

These are some items I carry in my breadbag at all times in the field.

Original WWII German kar98 cleaning kit, lard dish, esbit stove with original 1944 box W/ tablets, Heer personal photo album, German spork, Handtowel, Breadbag strap, "captured" French sewing kit, Wool gloves and a pair of fusslappen.

What do you carry inside yours?

Very nice POA, you just need to get a WW2 type butter dish instead of the
mottled orange post War type, there were some on ebay, here's my bread

Good load out Konsert Meister :-)... agreed with the bread bag contents, according to WW2 German
Army regs the iron ration contents must be carried by each man which consists of bread or dried
bread (dauerbrot B), a portion of meat and soup which can be a dried version which i carry in my
bread bag along with a small washing kit, the other stuff goes in pockets or ruck sack, also apparantly
Army issue towels were red striped and hankercheifs were light blue or blue striped (info taken from the
Deutchen Soldaten book)

Thanks! And yeah I agree on the butter dish, I need to pick up a original soon. But it will do until I get one.

Fair play, as I say if you want to do things properly and more
realistic you need to get some food content in the breadbag
too, the photo albulm, gloves and fusslappen would be in the
rucksack or A frame bag tbh,

The bread bag was to carry essential items in, you can"t eat a
photo album lol, just some friendly advice, as I said its up to
you what you carry

Well, not every man carried an A-Frame in 1944-1945 at all times. I own one but don't plan on wearing it in battles a lot. Mainly for marching and such. And The reason there is no food in there at this time is cause I am not at a event. What would I be accomplishing by keeping food it in when it's sitting in my storage trunk?.... When I am in the field I always carry bread in my breadbag or in the pockets of my feldblusen. And my photo album, gloves, fusslappen would be carried any way possible when there's a war going on..Same way the real guys would have done.

Very nice. You just need to get a WW2 type Scho Ka Kola tin instead of the modern one. :D

After having spend an age and a small fortune amassing various period breadbag bits n bobs , I was a bit downhearted when I showed them to a vet who said: "We never had any of that stuff at the front. Where were we supposed to get it from"
