I have now made the holder for the spare lenses and improved the piece in the lid that forms the lid once the top is closed.

I have now added the block that sits in the bottom for the scope mount to sit on . Nearly there just need to make the D rings and mounts for number two and sort the spring latches and were then ready for painting :) Oh and then fix the belt loops to the boxes after painting.

Back on this now the West German canteen set has come . I removed the spring latch and straightened the kink and reduced in length the top holding . I then made a holding plate the same as the original . This then screws to the box. The part it latches on to I used the one that the strap attaches to rather than the designated one . Reason for this is it has a better piece around it that when altered resembles the original mounting plate . I had to alter the lump piece. This latch is to big but I cant find a more accurate one size wise.

Please ignore the colour it is actually duller than the photo and is Humbrol dark green. But I'm changing this to a darker colour possibly using the RAL system to match the original one bellow.

I'm also going to alter the pull cord. And realy need thicker material for the 'D' rings. The mounts look bulky in the picture , but that's just the picture.

Box No.2 is un painted and awaiting the latch. The mounting piece is made ready for it.

Thanks mate . The problem we will have is the thicker D ring will foul the latch (see how close they are) If we had smaller latches thicker d rings would work . See what you can find and we can take it from there .I'm sure I can make it work. If you Google them there is loads on the net some as picture frame mounts .

Ive improved the spring latch mount . The D rings still need altering more of a round shape .

Improved top mounting .

original , the proportions look out as the latch on my box is to large.

This is now corrected spring latch moved (again  ) and improved shape to the 'D' ring which is actually more of a rounded shape than a 'D'

Image
Just the over sized West German spring Latch that makes it look incorrect.

Box No.2 also has improved 'D' rings fitted

Also ordered some small fixings to hold the belt loop on . If these don't work I have another idea

I have now made three of these two in ordnance tan and one will be in a Luftwaffe blue colour . I have now added the vinyl tab with the two flat rivets . The picture is a little out of proportion.
