Selling De-acts to Northern Ireland

Selling De-acts to Northern Ireland

I happened to notice a post in sales about an item being with drawn for sale to northern ireland due to differences in legislation and its good to see responsible sellers,

1. de-act legisalation differs in northern ireland compared to the uk mainland

2. what is legal for de act s in main land does not apply to northern ireland

3. component parts for guns are considered to be weapons ie magazines are considered to be firearms

4. old spec de-acts are not permitted to be held without a gun license

5. deacts such as k98's with integral box magazine may be considered live fire as the spring and feeder still work and although not able to chamber a round , leaves you in a legal mine field

6. magazines by themselves with working springs are not permitted to be held nor imported unless the buyer has a certificate for this particular weapon in question , now over last year i see buyers in northern ireland have bought machine gun magazines to fill pouches and unless they either had a current permit for a live version or either had the magazines de-activated such as sppring removed they are illegal .

7. if selling magazines on this site to buyers it may be a legal responsiblity for seller to ensure this documentation is in order as you may be exporting what is considered to be live guns / gun components , all mail to northern ireland is screened .

8. de-act mainstream vendors do not sell guns with live / working magazines to northern ireland at all , feel free to ring them as they are aware of the differences in the legislation .

9. there have been recent cases of people being brought to court and there are other cases pending ,

10. owning a de act in northern ireland is simply not a matter of buying a de act and having it like in main land uk , there has to be a purpose for it ie adorning your bed room does not warrent you having one , as it can be considered by police force that it could be used for sub versive reasons , although this would more or less be more applicable for ak 74's and later modern warfare weapons.

11. bringing de acts into the country with intergal box magazines that work or guns with working springs ie loose mags is not permitted .

12. do not sell loose working mags to northern ireland without first seeing the current gun license for that gun as it is not permitted.

if in doubt about selling to northern ireland anything contact their firearms department giving details they will be only to happy to give you current legislation and best advice on who to enjoy the hobby within the law.

13. all bayonets , knives and swords must be held within a secure container or closed bag in the boot when transporting never in the gloves compartment, front set, or back seat even if under a coat or box as may be seen as possession of an offensive weapon .

hope this draws to your attention how to deal safely and within law to buyers in northern ireland

A talk with your local PSNI firearms officer will lend clarity.
