Panzer Headset and Mic

Post by VonSchnitzel »

Anyone know where I can get a Replica Panzer Headset and Mic for reenacting
I dont want to buy a original from ebay due to price.
I have seen lots of Youtube clips with the Panzer Crew reenacters with them so they must be available from other vendors

Never seen a replica sold by any vendor.
There was a replica headset made in Japan but that was a working hifi headphone that cost as much as originals.

No, they are not.

I doubt it, those huge rubber pads would be very tricky.

have you seen a pair of g35's?

Just checking out the pics of Panzer Headsets now and they appear alittle larger than G35's but not much

Nice find on the rubber pads, they wont fit his Logitechs though, and the repro ones from Japan cost more than originals, over £300 plus shipping and the OP was concerned about cost. You then still have to find the throat mike.
I got the set 5 years ago for a lot less than £300. The times they are a changing.

I posted this on another forum a while back (sorry to repeat myself Stig :) )

For detail and reference, here are some pics of my own set of Dfh.b model headphones and throat mic (Dfh.b - Doppelfernhörer, (Double Telephone Receiver), model b).

I would expect to pay upwards of £450 for a complete set in good order like these at the moment.

Resign yourself to the fact that many things don't get reproduced and you will have to hunt high and low and also pay a premium for many of your dreams and wants.

Hope this helps,

Not at all Neil, glad of your input and clear images.
Let us compare your lovely set with the logitech G35 shall we?

The resemblance is so close that the less well versed might not see that the top image of the pair is that of the original wartime headset.
Really? No...
I cant see any common ground between the two other than they are worn on the head and over the ears?
The original mounts the transducer in a leather covered metal band that connects to the rear of the coil assembly of that transducer.
The logitech sits in a Y shaped yoke and is mostly plastic from what I can see.
Oh yes the originals are round and the G35 rhomboid. With a boom mike and single point cable entry.
They are about as different as headphones can be.
These are a better shape but still nothing like.

Ive heard people use the British type, as they are considerably cheaper
and look very similar :?:

Fair enough they're not German but if you are sitting in a tank who would
know or see them close up ??

Cheap. Near as bugger it. That'll do... I could have saved myself a fortune if i'd have known :o

Right, i'm off to make some EM34's out of some drain pipe and a couple of sponges.
